Q. How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts and future goals? A. "I'm grateful to be awarded this summer fellowship as it will significantly alleviate the concern of material costs for my research. Excited to begin diving into my focus area alongside my faculty mentor as we seek to make reusing material more convenient within the College of Design!" Q. Why is sustainability research important?

Q. How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts and future goals? A. "This fellowship will help to understand the importance of knowing where your food comes from and will support a local nursery with new meal planning and nutritional learning exercises." Q. Why is sustainability research important? A. "In my opinion we only have one earth and this research is important not only for our health, but the health of our planet as a whole."

Q. How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts and future goals? A. "The fellowship will expense me the opportunity costs of other activities besides taking part in research this summer. It will also give me a network of support and other avenues of connection to support this project and help teach people about food waste in Lexington." Q. Why is sustainability research important?

Anna Ackerman

Q. How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts and future goals? A. "The fellowship will support my efforts by allowing for an easier commute to Robinson Forest and promoting the beginning of a four-year research initiative in our local Kentucky environment. Tree productivity has not yet been explored in Kentucky, and the fellowship will help determine how forest microclimates impact watershed and ecosystem health. The fellowship will spread awareness and access to this research."

Undergraduate Research Celebrated at UK CURATE Event

“Proscenium,” a research project by Danica Hak, an undergraduate in the School of Interiors at the College of Design and the Department of Theatre and Undergraduate Research Fellow, was recognized on January 19 at the CURATE Research Advisory Group (RAG) program sponsored by UK’s Office of the Vice President for Research.
