Research Project Title: "Characterization of the T253I germline tp53 mutation identified in a patient with adrenocortical carcinoma." Brief Project Description: "There is a patient that was found with this mutation but it has not been characterized. The research goes into finding out whether this mutation is related to her adrenocortical carcinoma." Q. FINISH THIS SENTENCE:   "I enjoy research because....." A. "I'm able to expand my knowledge within science and be able to find answers that can bring life-changing solutions to healthcare."

"Novel Model for Tau Protein Expression and Function: The Honeybee Brain." "Tau protein is highly implicated in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. I will be exploring the use of honeybees, an insect with some unique properties when it comes to aging, to better understand the function of tau."   Q. FINISH THIS SENTENCE:   "I enjoy research because....." A. "I love to learn! Growing up, I was always fascinated by sciences, and being able to research allows me to be at the forefront of new discoveries and breakthroughs."

"Post-Bariatric Surgery Intervention for Weight Maintenance in Appalachian Patients." "The goal of this project is to design appropriate intervention and support for post-operative bariatric Appalachian patients so that they may sustain weight loss and live heathy lifestyles."   Q. FINISH THIS SENTENCE:   "I enjoy research because....." A. "I enjoy research because I get to build relationships with faculty and staff at UK, while also making a difference in my community." Q. How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"The effect of chronic methamphetamine administration on neural encoding of value." "My project focuses on uncovering the neural encoding of the valuation process that is central to the development of Substance Use Disorder. To that end, my experiment will compare changes in intracranial self stimulation (ICSS) threshold and isomorphic choice before and after methamphetamine locomotor sensitization as a proxy for Methamphetamine Use Disorder."   Q. "Fentanyl Social Renewal." "The purpose of this project is to determine how social cues affect the renewal of fentanyl taking behavior after extinction. It is important because it contributes to the development of a preclinical model of post-rehabilitation relapse, a very serious epidemic."   Q. FINISH THIS SENTENCE:   "I enjoy research because....." A. "I love being part of a team and feeling like I am contributing something important to society." Q. How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"Effects of Housing Conditions and Ethanol Consumption in Adolescent Male Rats on Adult Drinking." "To determine if voluntary intermittent sacc/EtOH exposure during adolescence, combined with the social isolation stress, increases adult EtOH drinking. With a follow-up experiment to determine whether saccharin alone in adolescence will produce an effect similar to sacc/EtOH in adolescence."   Q.
