How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts?
“This summer research fellowship will provide me with the dedicated time, resources, and mentorship needed to deepen my current research. Without the demands of a full course load, I will be able to focus intensively on experimental design, data collection, and analysis in the lab. The financial support will also alleviate the need for outside employment, allowing me to fully commit to my research."
Why is research important?
“Research is essential because it drives discovery and innovation across all fields of science and medicine. It allows us to ask questions, test hypotheses, and generate new knowledge that can improve lives and shape the future. Research also cultivates qualities that are invaluable to any career like critical thinking, problem solving skills, and resilience."
What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?
“Start by reaching out. Don't be afraid to email professors whose work interests you, even if you don't have prior experience. Be open to learning new techniques, ask questions, and embrace the process, including its challenges. Research isn't always about getting perfect results, it's about persistence and discovery. Taking the first step into research can open doors to various mentorships and other academic opportunities."
