How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts?
“This summer research fellowship will support my research by providing me with money to stay in Kentucky over the summer to continue research. I’m an out of state student all the way from Tulsa, Oklahoma, so having the opportunity to participate in this fellowship makes it possible for me to stay."
Why is research important?
“Research is important because it provides many learning outcomes, personal and professional development, and knowledge gains. Without research, my time at UK would look much different. Research has paved a way for me to connect with faculty and other students, as well as build my science knowledge."
What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?
“I would highly encourage UK students to participate in research. If a student is worried about getting started, they can always start my volunteering in a lab. This way, they wouldn’t be fully committed, but they would be able to see if research is something they find interesting. Research has provided me with so many opportunities that I never even imagined. I was scared to start participating in research, but once I took that first step, doors opened, and I fell in love with research."
