Registration now open for Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 12, 2024) — Registration is now open for the University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) 18th Annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars. This year’s showcase will be held on Wednesday, April 24, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Date set for 18th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) will celebrate bold dreamers and strategic thinkers at the upcoming Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars. Marking its 18th year of support for undergraduate research, the showcase is set for Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 1-5:30 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom.

The 18th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars is a moment when we step back from our academic routines to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and encourage them along the path of intellectual achievement, as well as celebrate the inspiration and creativity of our young scholars and the dedication of their mentors.

Showcase to spotlight 500 students’ research

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 24, 2022) — This week more than 500 University of Kentucky undergraduates will converge for the 17th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars. The showcase empowers undergraduates to share their research discoveries, ideas and creative works with the campus community and the public. This year’s Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom, features 500 students and 330 presentations representing 66 disciplines and 18 colleges.

Undergrads: Nominate your outstanding faculty research mentor

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 9, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting nominations for the 16th annual UK Excellent Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year awards. The student-nominated award recognizes excellence in supporting undergraduate research and conveys the campus’ high regard for outstanding contributions made to the academic and research community.

UK students have many opportunities to pursue research projects in a wide range of disciplines that help to create a well-rounded student experience.

Research Mentor of the Year Award Nominations

The Excellent Undergraduate Research Mentor Award recognizes UK faculty members who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers, provide exceptional undergraduate research experiences, as well as supporting and promoting the undergraduate research initiatives on campus.     Each year, outstanding faculty mentors are recognized at the Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars for their outstanding leadership and support of students.   

REGISTER: Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars

This year’s 17th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars is on Wednesday, April 26, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom. The Showcase is an opportunity for undergraduates to present their work through oral sessions, posters, artistic exhibits or performances. The event gives students from all disciplines a chance to engage in public outreach and polish their presentation skills. Peers, faculty and the local community are invited to come learn about the wide range of undergraduate research conducted at UK.

Abstract Writing Workshop is designed to help students prepare professional, succinct, and convincing abstracts.  The abstract writing workshop includes information on: What exactly is an abstract? How do I write one? What information do I include? What information do I exclude?
