‘Wildcat Wednesday’: Junior Meron Lemma Making Impact on Global Health Systems Through Research

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 9, 2022) — Throughout March for Women’s History Month, the University of Kentucky is spotlighting Women Making History. These women are leading their fields of research, crossing traditional academic boundaries and impacting Kentucky’s most pressing challenges, including opioid use disorder treatment, aging and Alzheimer’s, water and air filtration, environmental impacts on health and suicide prevention.

Creative and research opportunities abound at undergraduate expo

On Monday, Jan. 31, UK’s Office of Undergraduate Research hosted the Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Expo, connecting students with summer research opportunities. The purpose of the expo, according to the Office of Undergraduate Research’s website, was to “introduce undergraduate scholars to the diversity of research and creative work conducted at UK, allow students to network with research faculty and staff, and learn about mentored summer research and creative opportunities.”

UK Awarded Beckman Scholars Program With Undergraduate Chemistry Focus

Applications are now open for the University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research’s Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships. The annual fellowship gives undergraduates the opportunity to study in a wide variety of disciplines over the summer term while doing intensive and self-directed research or creative work under the supervision of a faculty mentor.

The Summer Research and Creative Experience Expo gives students from all majors, backgrounds and skill levels the chance to learn about research and creative opportunities available both on- and off-campus, with particular focus on opportunities that are available this coming summer term. From noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, around the Gatton Student Center Social Staircase, students can discover the diversity of research and creative work conducted at UK, network with research faculty and staff, learn about mentored summer research and creative opportunities, and gather information on fellowship opportunities.
