How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts?
“This summer research fellowship will provide me with the time, resources, and mentorship needed to focus deeply on my project without the added pressure of coursework. I’ll be able to refine my methods, analyze data, and engage more closely with relevant literature. The funding also allows me to fully commit to the work and maintain consistent collaboration with my mentor and research team."
Why is research important?
“Research is important because it helps us better understand health and find new ways to treat patients. As someone who wants to be a doctor, doing research teaches me how to think critically, question things, and apply science to real-life care. It also helps me stay up to date and make better decisions for future patients."
What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?
“My advice would be to just go for it, even if you're nervous or unsure. Research can seem intimidating at first, but it's one of the best ways to learn beyond the classroom. Don’t be afraid to reach out to professors, ask questions, and explore topics you're curious about. You’ll build skills, confidence, and connections that can help in any career path."
