4th annual research expo offers research connections for UK undergraduates

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 9, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) will host the fourth annual Research + Creative Experience Expo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jan. 16, 2024, at the Gatton Student Center Social Staircase. The event introduces undergraduates to the diversity of research at UK, allowing students to network with research faculty and staff, and learn about mentored research opportunities.

Beckman Scholars share success, invite undergrads to learn about prestigious program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2023) — From bettering life here on Earth to exploring what living off this planet could be like, Beckman Scholars at the University of Kentucky are advancing their branches of science through the prestigious program. 

Sustainability Summer Research Fellowship

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2024 Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships ($5,000 stipend) are funded by the Environmental Stewardship Fee and seek to promote projects that will make a significant contribution to the student’s academic growth, while concomitantly contributing to sustainability-focused research initiatives at the University of Kentucky and within the community at large. Where appropriate, we are also seeking projects that will make a scholarly contribution to their discipline. 

CURE Fellowship Application

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2024 at 11:55 PM EDT The CURE Fellowship provides opportunities for undergraduates to engage in a research project under the guidance of a mentor associated with one of the SIX participating RPAs: PARTICIPATING RESEARCH PRIORITY AREAS: Cancer  Cardiovascular Diversity & Inclusion (UNITE) Energy Neuroscience Substance Use Disorder (SUPRA)

Award-winning summer: UK senior named Astronaut Scholar, DAAD RISE intern

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. x, 2023) — It has been an award-winning summer for one University of Kentucky senior — Isha Chauhan. The biology and Lewis Honors College student from La Grange, Kentucky, was named one of the country’s 68 prestigious Astronaut Scholarship recipients and completed a DAAD RISE research internship in Germany.

The UK Office of Undergraduate Research is committed to helping students navigate the process of finding a faculty-mentored research opportunity that is a good fit for them. Summer Lunch & Learn Series: Poster Design Workshop Create effective and engaging research posters! We will walk attendees through the poster-making process - emphasizing poster design principles, layouts/ formats, understanding your audience, and evaluating a poster. Interactive workshop for all! Attendees will critique sample posters by applying the design principles discussed.  Poster design worksheet and handout included.
