I enjoy research because.... "I love to see the relationship between what is happening in our bodies on a cellular level and what we see on a macroscopic level. I love seeing how translational medicine has the potential to help people."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"Before I came at UK as a freshman, I read about undergraduate research and Dr. Matthew Gentry's lab after seeing there were openings for undergraduates. I was amazed by the impact research could have on people, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"I have been engaged in undergraduate research since August of 2019 (About two academic years)."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The most exciting aspect of my research so far has been learning from several different graduate and post-doctoral members of the lab. They have taught me about being a scientists in several different ways. I enjoy the bench work, but talking about the scientific application is always my favorite part in a project."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"I would tell other UK students thinking about doing research that it is an opportunity to learn from incredible people, and you will get out of it what you put into it."
