I enjoy research because.... "it has allowed me to discover a passion I did not have prior to my undergraduate studies and given me opportunities I had never imagined."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"Admittedly, I was seeking out a lab position in order to boost my resume, but after some time on the research bench, I quickly became obsessed with the hands-on approach of biomedical research."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"I have been in Dr. Gentry's lab since January of 2019."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"I have been able to discern my pursuit of graduate school thanks to my mentors and advisors. Had I never taken part in research at UK, I would not have been able to discover this opportunity."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"Do not be afraid to reach out to any faculty member pursuing research that aligns with your interest. You never know the opportunities with which you might be presented!"
