A. "I enjoy research because I get to build relationships with faculty and staff at UK, while also making a difference in my community."
Q. How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?
A. "I have always been interested in research. One of the reason I chose UK was because it was a land grant research institution. I knew there would be a ton of research opportunities that could help prepare me for my future career."
Q. What has been the most exciting aspect of your research experience so far?
A. "I enjoy working with my mentor. She is very passionate about her work, and I feel like I can learn a lot from her."
Q. How has undergraduate research impacted your college experience at the University of Kentucky?
A. "Participating in undergraduate research has helped me connect with faculty and staff in my college that I may not have had the chance to meet in the classroom. Making these kinds of connections helps my college community feel smaller and more personal."
Q. What advice would you give to UK students who are considering starting research?
A. "I would tell them to go for it! UK has an abundance of research opportunities, so there is something for everyone! Reach out to a few mentors, meet with them, and see what type of research aligns best with your interests."
