Register for Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars

Registration is now open for the 15th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars, which will be held virtually April 27-29, 2021. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Big Dreamers and Strategic Thinkers” and will offer both synchronous and asynchronous virtual presentations over the course of three days.

Because UK is an R1 institution, undergraduate research activities are celebrated and highlighted, and student research success is an important part of our research mission. 5-Minute Fast Track Competition Winners Announced

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 16, 2020) — Ten University of Kentucky undergraduate student finalists recently competed in the final round of the third annual 5-Minute Fast Track Research Oral Competition. The competition included two virtual preliminary rounds, with the top 10 students advancing to the final championship competition. This year’s final round was hosted in the UK's Worsham Cinema and livestreamed to a virtual audience.

UK Graduate Conducts Science Communication Research Focused on Appalachian Communities

Bill Haneberg and Lauren Cagle received grant funding from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, or NASEM, last year for their proposal, “Engaging Nontraditional Geoscience Information Stakeholders in Appalachian Kentucky.” Because of COVID-19, changes to research methods have been made to address health and safety concerns associated with the pandemic, but work continues on the project and study participants are currently being interviewed.
