Commonwealth Undergraduate Research Experience Fellowship Launches at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 3, 2022) — A new undergraduate opportunity — the Commonwealth Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) Fellowship — provides a path for the University of Kentucky to advocate for and ensure the inclusion of a diverse population of students pursuing mentored research in designated Research Priority Areas (RPAs).

UK Awarded Beckman Scholars Program With Undergraduate Chemistry Focus

The University of Kentucky has been named a 2022 Beckman Scholars Program Award winner. The award will create a new program focusing on diversity and equity in undergraduate research — Scholars United by Chemistry: Cultivating Excellence through Science Stewardship (SUCCESS). This prestigious, invite-only program for top-tier research institutions provides a 15-month mentored research experience for exceptional undergraduate students in chemistry, biological sciences and associated interdisciplinary combinations.

Undergraduates Encouraged to Apply for Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships

Applications are now open for the University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research’s Sustainability Summer Research Fellowships. The annual fellowship gives undergraduates the opportunity to study in a wide variety of disciplines over the summer term while doing intensive and self-directed research or creative work under the supervision of a faculty mentor.

Students Encouraged to Attend Summer Research and Creative Experience Expo

The Summer Research and Creative Experience Expo gives students from all majors, backgrounds and skill levels the chance to learn about research and creative opportunities available both on- and off-campus, with particular focus on opportunities that are available this coming summer term. From noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, around the Gatton Student Center Social Staircase, students can discover the diversity of research and creative work conducted at UK, network with research faculty and staff, learn about mentored summer research and creative opportunities, and gather information on fellowship opportunities.

2021 Oswald Research and Creativity Competition Winners Announced

The University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research recently announced 18 undergraduate winners of the 57th annual Oswald Research and Creativity Awards.

Applications are being accepted for the University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research’s fourth annual 5-Minute Fast Track Research Competition. The goal of this competition is to improve students’ abilities to communicate their undergraduate research and creative work effectively to a general, non-specialist audience while creating a compelling story about their scholarship.

UK Sustainability Announces New Research Poster Competition

University of Kentucky graduate and undergraduate students are invited to submit an abstract and poster in a new sustainability research poster competition held in conjunction with the annual UK Sustainability Showcase on Oct. 5.
