Research + Creative Experience Expo to highlight breadth of UK programs to undergrads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2023) — The third annual Research + Creative Experience Expo will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Gatton Student Center Social Staircase and Ballroom A. This biannual event introduces undergraduates to the diversity of research at the University of Kentucky, allowing students to network with research faculty and staff, and learn about mentored research opportunities.

Beckman Scholar Application Deadline

APPLICATION DETAILS The Beckman Scholars SUCCESS program welcomes applications from all undergraduate students. As part of the SUCCESS Scholars program, we seek to enhance the educational benefits of a diverse student body.  ** All materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by 12 p.m. (noon) on February 1, 2023. Please do not wait to submit your application.  

Workshop: Poster Design

Poster Design Workshop Create effective and engaging research posters! Let our Undergraduate Research Ambassadors help walk you through the poster making process - emphasizing poster design principles, layouts/ formats, understanding your audience, and evaluating a poster. We will discuss designing an oral presentation, as well.  Get useful peer-to-peer feedback, too! Midsummer Research Social

The Office of Undergraduate Research is hosting a Midsummer Research Social for all summer research fellows and mentors on Wednesday, July 13 from 11am – 1pm. We will be serving up free Kona Ice and good times for a fun summer social opportunity! All UK students and those visiting from other schools engaged in undergraduate research activities and creative works are eligible to attend the event, including mentors (PIs, graduate students, and postdocs) — regardless of funding source or formal program affiliation.

The University of Kentucky has been named a 2022 Beckman Scholars Program Award winner. The award will create a new program focusing on diversity and equity in undergraduate research — Scholars United by Chemistry: Cultivating Excellence through Science Stewardship (SUCCESS). This prestigious, invite-only program for top-tier research institutions provides a 15-month mentored research experience for exceptional undergraduate students in chemistry, biological sciences and associated interdisciplinary combinations.
