I enjoy research because.... "it has provided me with so many outlets to individualize my learning and get the most out of my undergraduate experience. I have loved being able to participate in real-life science, and it has been so rewarding to see new discoveries happening right before my eyes."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I first became interested in research through the STEMCATS program my freshman year."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"I have been engaged in research since I was a freshman, but I have been working on my current project with Dr. O'Hara for 5 semesters."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The most exciting aspect of research for me is seeing how the results of my hands on work can go on to be published and influential. It is exciting that some of my research may be the basis for future treatments for disease."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"The best advice I would give students interested in research would be to reach out to the OUR because they have so many resources that make the process of getting started a lot less intimidating."
