I enjoy research because.... "it provides an opportunity to take the theoretical we learn in the classroom and apply it to the physical in the laboratory."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I heard the upperclassmen talking about their research with professors, and was instantly hooked."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"I have been participating in undergraduate research since freshman year, but more seriously now as a junior."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The opportunity to continue my research in Germany this summer at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"Do not be afraid to ask questions. Professors will not expect you to know everything, and asking questions will always enrich your experience, providing more opportunities to learn."
