Registration Now Open for Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 2, 2023) — As an R1 university — the Carnegie Classification for the most research-intensive higher education institutions in the U.S. — the University of Kentucky has a thriving undergraduate research program. UK students have many opportunities to pursue research projects in a wide range of disciplines that help to create a well-rounded student experience.

REGISTER: Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars Presentation Opportunity

This year’s 17th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars is on Wednesday, April 26, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom. The Showcase is an opportunity for undergraduates to present their work through oral sessions, posters, artistic exhibits or performances. The event gives students from all disciplines a chance to engage in public outreach and polish their presentation skills. Peers, faculty and the local community are invited to come learn about the wide range of undergraduate research conducted at UK.

Undergraduate Research Celebrated at UK CURATE Event

“Proscenium,” a research project by Danica Hak, an undergraduate in the School of Interiors at the College of Design and the Department of Theatre and Undergraduate Research Fellow, was recognized on January 19 at the CURATE Research Advisory Group (RAG) program sponsored by UK’s Office of the Vice President for Research.  

14 UK undergraduates to present at Posters-at-the-Capitol

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2023) — The 21st annual Posters-at-the-Capitol on March 2, 2023, will feature 14 University of Kentucky undergraduate students whose research addresses topics with important implications for issues in Kentucky, including community health, agricultural sustainability, renewable energy and public health and safety.

UK students earn top rankings for scientific research presentations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 23, 2022) — Six University of Kentucky students ranked among the top scorers for research presentations given at the Kentucky Academy of Science’s 2022 Annual Meeting in November. More than 700 students and professional scientists from across the state attended the annual meeting, which was held Nov. 10-12, at Morehead State University. Panels of scientists who judged students’ research presentations designated top-tier presentations as “Thoroughbreds.”
