Samuel LeRose

Major: Physics

Minor: Mathematics

Research Mentor: Dr. Christopher Crawford

I enjoy research because.... "It allows me to be creative and apply my knowledge to real-world applications.."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I first reach out to Dr. Crawford looking for a research opportunity in the nuclear subsect of physics. He introduced me to a project in creating programs for data analysis, and I was immediately interested in its applications."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"1.5 years"

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The ability to create something of my own. I value wider access to more complex research/lab techniques, and being able to contribute my own works that can help others make their way through independent research has been extremely fulfilling."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"Contact a few professors whose work you find interest in and see if they have openings. Trust your skills and be willing to fail and learn."
