How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts?
“The opportunity for conducting summer research allows me the necessary time, funding, and personal connections to learn and be involved with thorough research. Building on the foundation of my current role as an undergraduate researcher, I will take the knowledge from the database to my observations and interactions with patients within the ICU Recovery Clinic.”
Why is research important?
“The importance of research is its translation to practice and impact on human life. This thoughtfulness in research is necessary to understand the established practices, critically assess what I am doing and why I am doing it, and to make adaptations as part of the process.”
What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?
“Throw yourself into it. Not in the sense of being reckless or disrespectful, but in the sense of wholly immersing yourself. Freely fall into rabbit holes, take note of anything and everything that provokes thought, debate with yourself and others. It may take more time than you expect and may be frustrating and complicated, but in doing so you will find what research means to you and what special thing you want to study and share with us.”
