I enjoy research because.... "it allows me to apply my classroom knowledge, collaborate with others, and think creatively to solve puzzles."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"In the fall of my freshman year, I took an Honors Biology Scholars course where we were introduced to the principles of research and encouraged to take a BIO 199 in the spring semester. I was interested in the hands-on aspect and knowledge transfer research provided."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"3 years"

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The most exciting aspect of my research has been watching my project come to life and understanding the impact it will have."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"I would encourage anyone thinking about participating in undergraduate research to go for it! It does not matter if you have or do not have previous research experience, being involved in research is all about learning."
