Hena Kachroo

Sophomore, Biochemistry major, Physics minor

Research Mentor: Dr. Christopher Crawford

I enjoy research because.... "It gives me the chance to explore niche topics in a field I am interested in and apply what I have learned in the classroom to the real world."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I knew I wanted to participate in research, in coming to UK, and my advisor suggested that I contact the Office of Undergraduate Research to help in scoping out different opportunities, which was great advice."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"For a year, now."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"Getting to see how everything fits together and how even a small contribution to the project can lead to a big breakthrough, overall."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"Don’t be afraid of making mistakes along the way because it is all part of the learning process. Learning from those mistakes and improving from them is what leads to great research."
