Cecilia Pankau

Honors Senior, Neuroscience and Biology major

Research Mentor: Dr. Robin Cooper

I enjoy research because.... "of the depth of knowledge that I have gained from working with my research mentor."

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I started with research as nursing major, and it helped me realize that I wanted to change my major to neuroscience because of my strong interest in research within the basic sciences. So, I changed my major, lucked out by finding an incredible mentor, and have learned so much from my experience."

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"I have been engaged in undergraduate research for one year."

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"Working with freshman students as a TA for a class of BIO 199 students taught by my research mentor."

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"Take the time to find a research mentor that you believe will invest in you and your growth."
