Carter Pryor 2024 CURE Fellow
Carter Pryor
Senior, Chemistry major and a 2024 CURE Fellow
Research Mentor: Kenneth Graham
Supported by the Materials Science Research Priority Area
How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts?
“This fellowship will allow me to continue much of the work I have already loved doing with my faculty mentor for the past two semesters. This is a unique opportunity because it gives me the opportunity to work on a research project largely independently due to my previous experience in this lab, which is something I can only get through a research fellowship here at UK!”
Why is research important?
“Research is important because it is all about exploring possibilities that you could never imagine - for yourself and for the world. My time in research has developed me both as a scientist and as a professional, and has given me experience and confidence I could never have gained otherwise as an undergrad.”
What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?
“If you think you would be interested in research, get started as soon as you can! Most people are really kind and understanding about your knowledge and even for you getting a feel for what you may like and not like! Even if you find out research is not a thing, exploring topics at a deeper level will help broaden your knowledge and even pick careers for yourself outside of research.”
