I enjoy research because.... "it allows me to have a positive impact on community and its citizens. My research is important to me because of the opportunity for change it can bring to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and globally."

 

How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?

"I was first interested in undergraduate research at UK when hearing about unique opportunities through the Office of Undergraduate Research. I was unfamiliar with the opportunities available to me and I found one that allowed me explore my interests."

 

How long have you been engaged in undergraduate research?

"Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to participate in the SPARK (Students Participating as Ambassadors for Research in Kentucky) Program."

 

What has been the most exciting aspect of your research so far?

"The most exciting aspect of my research has been the data collection. I enjoyed returning to Appalachian community to conduct applicable and meaningful research."

 

What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

"I would tell other UK students interested in research to put themselves out there and go for it. You may not get accepted to every opportunity, but it is worth the risk!"
