"The effect of chronic methamphetamine administration on neural encoding of value."
"My project focuses on uncovering the neural encoding of the valuation process that is central to the development of Substance Use Disorder. To that end, my experiment will compare changes in intracranial self stimulation (ICSS) threshold and isomorphic choice before and after methamphetamine locomotor sensitization as a proxy for Methamphetamine Use Disorder."

A. "I enjoy research because it makes me feel like I am contributing to a cause that is bigger than myself."
Q. How did you first get interested in undergraduate research at UK?
A. "As a freshman, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in research. Because of this, I started reaching out to research faculty and eventually found my place in Dr. Beckmann’s lab."
Q. What has been the most exciting aspect of your research experience so far?
A. "The most exciting aspect of my experience so far has been getting to know the graduate students in my lab and learning about their contributions to science. I love learning about the things they are interested in and it inspires me to continue my research. To be able to work with such outstanding individuals is truly an honor."
Q. How has undergraduate research impacted your college experience at the University of Kentucky?
A. "Undergraduate research has been one of the greatest things about my college experience. I cannot imagine myself not being at UK and not doing what I am doing. I feel proud of myself and I am always looking forward to what’s next for my career."
Q. What advice would you give to UK students who are considering starting research?
A. "Do it! Reach out to as many research faculty as you can. Make your name heard and don’t give up when you hit a dead end. You belong here and you deserve to contribute to the research at UK."
