Q. How will this summer research fellowship support your research efforts and future goals?

A. "I plan to use this summer opportunity to expand my knowledge of independent research study, and to gain more experience planning and executing experiments."

Q. Why is sustainability research important?

A. "Sustainability research is important given that our environment is always changing and we, as human beings, hold the responsibility of preserving the nature around us. Waste is building up in our landfills and polluting our earth. It is important to research into better, more sustainable ways of managing waste and protecting wildlife."

Q. What advice would you give to other UK students thinking about doing research?

A. "If you are interested in research, even the slightest bit, do not be scared to try it out! I was terrified to start research because I was scared of making mistakes. However, I learned that research is about making mistakes. It is about figuring out the best ways to modify your experiments and challenge your thinking."

The UK Office of Undergraduate Research's Sustainability Summer Research Fellowship program provides undergraduates with the opportunity to study in a wide variety of disciplines while doing intensive and self-directed research with a sustainability focus under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
